DKR HOUSE
Kraków2020-2025
Photographers: ONI Studio
“It is a thoughtful and sensitive house that does not impose itself, but invites its inhabitants to live in rhythm with the landscape. An interior where natural materials, custom-made furniture and works of art form a timeless and coherent balance.
The owners wanted a haven of peace – a calm place in harmony with the century-old trees and the surrounding greenery.
All of Oskar Firek’s work focused on creating contrasts of materials and tonalities in the interior, in a subtle play of tension and rhythm between softness and brutalism, curved forms and straight lines. A simplicity defined by timelessness.
The black burnt wood of the façade inspired the introduction of dark-stained oak, which became the central axis of the interior. Floors and lighter furniture are made of oak, while walls and ceilings are finished with natural clay plaster. The colour palette is based on natural tones – beiges and calming light wood – responding to the exterior cladding of the house and the surrounding greenery.
Personalising the interior and giving it a unique character strengthens the bond that forms with its occupants – this is essential for us. The mission is accomplished in this serene interior, rich in contrasts of materials and tonalities, in a subtle play of tension and rhythm between softness and brutalism, simplicity and timelessness.”
